Sherry Fitzgerald Catherine O’Reilly Handicaps 2023
We are delighted to launch the Sherry Fitzgerald
Handicap Rules 2023
- The competition will be segregated according to handicap up to semi-final stage. When handicaps for each player/pairing has been decided by the tournament committee the players above a certain handicap (to be decided by the committee) will be drawn in one half of the draw and the players below that handicap will be in the other half. This ensures that players in both halves of the draw will be playing against other players with a reasonably similar handicap up to semi-finals stage at which stage both sections will be integrated. Similar to last year we will have a plus advantage handicap.
- When the score reaches deuce in any game, the next point wins. In singles matches the receiver may decide on which side s/he wishes to receive the deciding point. In doubles the receivers may decide on which side they wish to receive the deciding point (but cannot switch sides to do so). In mixed doubles the Lady receives from a female server and the men receive from a male server.
- Matches will be the best of 3 sets. If the score reaches 6 all in any set, including the 3rd set, the winner of the next game will win the set. Rule 2 will continue to apply.
- Matches will be played on week nights and at week-ends to reduce the overall length of the competition.
