Sinnott Skoda Senior championships – thank you from club captain Jean Baker
We had a great day in WTC on Saturday for the finals of our 2017 Sinnott Skoda Club Championships. Some fantastic tennis matches, BBQ, chat and a great buzz about the club.
Thank you to everyone for coming down to support the finals and for the great support you have given over the past eleven days. It was great to see such a large number of young people involved and if they were not playing they were coming down to support each other.
Congratulations to Ashley Wynne, winner for the 18th year in a row of the Ladies Championships Singles and to Peter Finnegan, winner for the 5th year in a row of the Men’s Championship Singles.

I would like to thank John Sinnott of Sinnott Auto’s who have kindly sponsored this event for the past number of years and hopefully will continue to do so in the future.
Thank you to the umpires, Grace Fitzsimons and Robert Pickerill, the lines people, everyone who helped out in the kitchen, Mary Farrell for her lovely selection of salads, Liam Whitty, Jeff Byrne, John Sinnott and Robbie Earls for running the BBQ (simply delicious), Loraine for taking photographs, John Curry for organising the umpire chair, beers and BBQ Grill and Sinead Nolan for her ongoing help and support throughout the competition.
Most importantly I want to thank my tournament committee who have supported me throughout the past 11 days. It’s a small, tight knit group that works very effectively – John Curry, John Diskin, Peter Hutt, Michael Keegan and Aidan Morrissey.
It is very much a team effort and it is your support and help over the past eleven days that has ensured the success of the WTC 2017 Club Championships.
Finally, I want to wish our 4 Ladies and 2 Men’s teams the best of luck next Sunday, 3rd September for their first matches in the Over 35, Senior League.
This Club Captain is now taking a little time to concentrate on her rehab and hopefully get back on the tennis courts a.s.a.p.
Jean Baker – Club Captain.
